About BESS
The BioEnergy Society of Singapore (BESS), founded in 2008, is a dynamic organization dedicated to advancing sustainable development technologies. Our mission is to promote bioenergy solutions and foster a cleaner, more resilient energy future.
Our Focus Areas:
- Bioenergy Technologies: BESS explores a wide range of bioenergy sources, including biomass, biogas, and liquid biofuels. We emphasize efficient feedstock utilization and innovative technologies. By replacing fossil fuels with bioenergy, we contribute to both affordable and clean energy (SDG 7) and climate action (SDG 13).
- Waste Valorization: Our commitment extends beyond energy production. We actively support waste-to-energy initiatives, converting organic waste into valuable resources. Whether it’s biogas from food processing waste or biomass/charcoal briquettes, we align with responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) and sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11).
- Circular Economy and Materials: BESS embraces circular economy principles. We explore waste-to-food and waste-to-materials approaches, minimizing waste and maximizing resource utilization. Our efforts contribute to responsible consumption and production (SDG 12).
- Greenhouse Gas Mitigation and Decarbonization: Collaborating with policymakers and research institutions, we develop strategies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. Our focus on decarbonization aligns with climate action (SDG 13).
- Capacity Building and Awareness: BESS actively engages with stakeholders, enhancing public awareness of bioenergy’s positive impact. We believe in quality education (SDG 4) and partnerships for sustainable goals (SDG 17).
Join us in shaping a sustainable future through sustainable technology innovation!
